Girish Sharma practicing Architect- Town planner is the Director at ‘Lavanya’ and has a vast experience of designing and delivering wide array of architectural & Planning projects for the past 30+ years. He graduated from Shivaji University, Kolhapur (Maharashtra, IN) and secured 1st position in University Merit list. He completed his M. Plan in Urban Planning from SPA, New Delhi, IN with distinction.
Ar. Girish Sharma has served in Avas Vikas Sansthan (A registered society of Rajasthan Housing Board) as Dy. Director (Planning) from year 1992 to year 2000. The Main focus of the Organization was to construct housing units and other buildings using cost effective techniques. As Dy. Director (planning) his job was to strike a fine balance between Architectural concepts and Techno-Material constraints. Efforts were made to use Vernacular techniques as well as prefabricated technology.
Ar. Girish Sharma also served as Assistant Town Planner, Jaipur Development Authority from year 2000 to year 2005. He was posted in zone 9, which includes area from Delhi Road, Agra Road to Tonk Road. The main area within the zone are Airport, Jagatpura and Goner Road Areas. Apart from the regular official duties at J.D.A. Ar. Girish Sharma planned Sector 30 encompassing areas between Mahal Road and Sawaimadhopur Railway line. This sector has become one of prime area in Jaipur since sector plan implementation and construction of sector roads was timely undertaken by the authority.
During his tenure at J.D.A, Ar. Girish Sharma also initiated and completed the planning of Sector 34, 35, 36, 37, which covered the whole of South-East side of Jaipur City.
Ar. Girish Sharma resigned from service in March 2005 to set up independent Urban Planning, Architectural & Interior Design firm-“LAVANYA’’ at Jaipur.
At ‘LAVANYA’, he is involved in planning & execution of all projects being dealt in the firm.
He is a life member of Institute of Town Planners (India) and Institute of Indian Interior Designers. He is also fellow member of The Institution of Valuers (India).
Ar. Girish Sharma was also an honorary visiting professor to Aayojan School of Architecture & Jaggannath University, Jaipur and serves as a jury member & committee member of a number of institutes of architecture and planning including MNIT, Jaipur, Rajasthan. He is on the advisory panel of many developers and builders in Rajasthan.
